Frank Kennedy, BSW, MSW, RSW

I am a practicing social worker and a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I have both undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work acquired at Andrews University, Michigan U.S.A., in 1983 and the University of Toronto in 1991. My professional life in the capacity of a social worker spans 32 years inclusive of direct frontline work, mentoring and direct supervision of other social workers.

The breadth of my experience and training encompass modalities in trauma, abuse, various forms of victimisation, child protection, family dynamics, grief counselling, conflict resolution and emotional regulation affecting a broad cross section of cultures and socio-economic classes. An anti-oppressive approach is paramount to my practice with a keen recognition that no two situations are identical.

I have worked for 28 years in child protection and in the process demonstrated strong leadership skills and clinical supervision in the mentorship of other social workers. My work history in child protection occurred while working with Toronto and Peel Children’s Aid Societies. In addition, I have been engaged in private practice over the last 20 years, counselling children, youths, individuals and couples who have experienced varying degrees of difficulty impacting their functioning, relationships and direction in life. Facilitating others to utilise community resources, becoming autonomous and functional in their environment as a means of restoring dignity and functionality has always been my focus.
